FKI Logistex EASYpick GoKarts Improve Picking Accuracy and Efficiency

FKI Logistex®, a global leader in integrated material handling solutions, introduces the EASYpick® GoKart(TM) mobile picking cart. The GoKart provides an ideal solution for the long and unproductive walks necessary to pick low-velocity items from distant break-pack picking areas. Current EASYpick GoKart customers include major retail distribution centers for Advance Auto Parts®, Hannaford Bros®, Liz Claiborne®, and Helen of Troy®.

EASYpick GoKarts streamline picking operations, enhance picker productivity, and increase order accuracy by allowing batch or cluster picking of slower-moving items that traditionally cause picking errors. A cost-effective investment, GoKarts combine advanced pick-to-light components from FKI Logistex with wireless local area network (LAN) capability and RF scanning in an ergonomic, user-friendly design. The units integrate seamlessly with installed networks and warehouse management systems, as well as the entire line of proven and reliable FKI Logistex EASYpick picking and putting software and equipment.

"FKI Logistex EASYpick GoKarts offer pickers mobility, go-anywhere flexibility, and the support system they need to improve picking productivity and accuracy," says Gary Cash, vice president, product management and marketing, FKI Logistex, North America. "An integral part of some of the world's leading distribution center operations, EASYpick GoKarts are entirely configurable to the specifics of your distribution application."

GoKart pick-to-light displays indicate the quantity to pick and the quantity to put into each cart container. The pick totals for each container are confirmed by pushing a button on the display. Picking operators are directed to picking locations via the unit's wireless LAN communications system with picking locations confirmed by a handheld scanner. Each GoKart is also outfitted with an onboard controller, allowing the wireless LAN to be configured to meet a distribution center's network requirements.

The design of EASYpick GoKarts focuses on simplicity and reliability - from their rugged steel construction and cast aluminum hardware to their easy-to-use light displays and handheld RF scanners. FKI Logistex offers GoKarts in customizable cart sizes and configurations, with the choice of chrome-finish or powder-coated framework. Shelves can be either angled or flat, and feature a typical weight capacity of 135 kg (300 lb.) per shelf, depending on wheels, suspension, and cart length. EASYpick GoKarts are self-powered by a rechargeable and easy-to-access and maintain 24-volt battery system.

FKI Logistex GoKart implementations include full integration and initial operator training. The units are backed by the comprehensive, live 24/7/365 customer service available from FKI Logistex Customer Service and Support (CSS).
