Press Release Summary:
The L50 (150) A-LP2-35 Thermal Measurement Sensor comes with 35 mm aperture and measures laser power from 100 mW to 50 W continuously and up to 150 W intermittently. The unit features an LP2 coating that reduces reflection, absorbs 95% of most wavelengths and is spectrally flat at ±1% from 0.25 µm to 2.2 µm. It features a Smart connector which interfaces with smart display for showing data display formats. The sensor can measure laser energy from 40 mJ to 3000 J and is offered in 64 x 64 x 66 mm dimensions.
Original Press Release:
MKS Announces Ophir® LP2 Power/Energy Sensor with Very High Damage Threshold for High Power Density and Long Pulse Lasers
October 1, 2018 – Andover, MA – MKS Instruments, Inc. (NASDAQ: MKSI), a global provider of technologies that enable advanced processes and improve productivity, has announced the L50(150)A-LP2-35, the newest addition to the Ophir® line of LP2 laser power/energy sensors with high damage threshold. The L50(150)A-LP2-35 is a compact, thermal measurement sensor for use with high power density and long pulse lasers. It features an LP2 coating that provides the highest damage threshold in the industry, 33kW/cm2 at full CW power of 150W power. The coating also reduces reflection, absorbing 95% at most wavelengths, and is spectrally flat at ±1% from 0.25µm to 2.2µm.
The L50(150)A-LP2-35 is a compact device measuring 64 x 64 x 66mm. It features a 35mm aperture and can measure laser power from 100mW to 50W continuously, and up to 150W intermittently. It can also measure power up to 4000W from a short 0.4s exposure to the laser. The sensor measures laser energy from 40mJ to 3000J.
The new LP2 coating offers very high absorption, which reduces dangerous and often harmful back reflection. The coating also allows the sensor to measure concentrated, lower power beams and short exposures of higher power.
All Ophir thermal sensors feature a "Smart Connector" interface that operates with the company's Centauri, StarBright, Vega, Nova II, and StarLite smart displays, and Juno compact USB PC interface. Choose between a variety of data display formats, including Digital with Bargraph, Line Plot, Pulse Chart, and Real Time Statistics. The displays also feature sophisticated logging of power and energy, statistics, histograms, and more, as well as advanced math functions. The display is automatically configured and calibrated when plugged into one of the company's laser measurement heads.
The L50(150)A-LP2-35 laser power/energy sensor is available now.
