Miniature Sensors detect color, contrast, and luminescence.

Press Release Summary:

Model CSM 1 identifies, sorts, and checks objects on basis of color. Switching frequencies up to 1.5 kHz allow detection at high throughput rates. Model KT 3 utilizes 2-point teach-in on marks and backgrounds, high-contrast resolutions, and integrated switching threshold adaptation for highly reflective target objects. Sensing distance is 12.5 mm and switching frequencies are up to 10 kHz. Model LUT 2, self-contained UV light, detects visible and invisible markings that luminescence.

Original Press Release:

The New CSM 1 / KT 3/LUT 2 Mini Sensors From SICK, Inc. Color, contrast and luminescence detection now available in a miniature sensor

The new mini series of color, contrast and luminescence sensors from SICK offer trailblazing technology in the smallest spaces. Modern, compact machines often allow little space for mounting sensors. Additionally, a wide variety of different packaging materials, colors and designs need to be detected while the machine is in use. Compact and compatible - both demands are met by SICK's new sensors with their identical housings and connection technology.

The new CSM 1 color sensor identifies, sorts and checks objects on the basis of their color, which is quickly and easily taught-in. Thereafter, switching frequencies of up to 1.5 kHz allow color detection even at high throughput rates.

The KT 3 contrast sensor utilizes an easy-to-use 2-point teach-in on marks and backgrounds, high contrast resolutions and integrated switching threshold adaptation for highly reflective target objects. With sensing distances of 12.5 mm and switching frequencies of up to 10 kHz the device is predestined for use for contrast detection of packaging in tight spaces, without the need for complex designs or fiber optics.

Instead of a minimum optical contrast or color, the LUT 2 luminescence sensor detects visible and invisible markings that luminesce thanks to the self-contained UV light. The high switching frequency of the device, with its sensing distance of approximately 12.5 mm, is also suitable for high levels of machine performance.

With three miniature sensors to choose from there's always one that is suitable for any application. All three sensors are mechanically and electrically compatible. As a result they can easily be exchanged with one another should it become necessary.

This new family of miniature registration and inspection sensors from SICK is now available. When space is limited, finding a solution is as easy as 1-2-3. CSM 1, LUT 2 and KT 3 that is!
