Rockwell Automation Introduces New Line of Miniature Circuit Breakers Approved for North American Applications

Allen-Bradley® Bulletin 1492-SPU miniature circuit breakers provide cost-effective branch circuit protection while conserving panel space

MILWAUKEE, Nov. 1, 2002 - To help OEMs and end users cost-effectively meet North American electrical standards, as well as the industry's need to accurately match circuit protection levels with application requirements, Complete Automation® leader Rockwell Automation has introduced Allen-Bradley® Bulletin 1492-SPU Miniature Circuit Breakers.

Ideal for applications that require branch circuit protection complying with UL and CSA standards, the 1492-SPU miniature circuit breakers may be sized to protect power-limited circuits and control circuits. In addition to protecting branch circuits from damaging currents, these devices similarly protect load devices such as controllers, solenoids, power supplies and control transformers. With a selectable current range from 0.5 to 20 amps at up to 240 Volts, the new supplementary protectors allow users to more specifically match breakers with circuit loads without the need of additional devices to protect the branch circuit.

The Allen-Bradley 1492-SPU circuit breakers operate similar to the 1492-SP supplementary protectors, which allow 10 to 20 times less "let-through" energy than a conventional breaker, resulting in less wire heating and minimizing damage to downstream components. Built-in fault detection helps maintenance personnel quickly determine and troubleshoot faults, simplifying system maintenance and reducing costly downtime.

Measuring only 80 mm in height, the compact size of the Bulletin 1492-SPU miniature circuit breakers conserves valuable panel space, allowing end-users and panel builders to incorporate more components into a single cabinet.

The Allen-Bradley Bulletin 1492-SPU devices are UL489 listed and CSA 22.2 No. 5 approved.
