Sensors Unlimited Now Shipping Dual Wavelength Visible / Near-IR Camera in OEM Quantities

November 17, 2004 - Princeton, NJ - Sensors Unlimited, Inc., a global supplier of near-infrared (NIR) cameras and InGaAs-based imaging products and systems, recently introduced the world's smallest dual wavelength imager. The Visible-InGaAs MiniCamera simultaneously images in the visible and near-infrared waveband regions. Field tested by the U. S. Department of Defense, this miniature, solid state camera is now available in OEM quantities for immediate shipping.

The 320 x 240 pixel array with a 40 micron pitch offers a spectral response from 400 nm to 1600 nm. The unparalleled peak quantum efficiency is 80 per cent at 1310 nm and greater than 70 per cent at 1550 nm. Thermoelectrically temperature stabilized, the full featured, compact camera has no moving parts and weighs less than 300 grams (without lens). Sensors Unlimited's new uncooled minicam allows inspection in both the visible and short-wave IR waveband regions with only one camera, jobs which previously would have required two. The single focal plane array is built using Sensors Unlimited's proprietary InGaAs detector technology, combining an expanded wavelength range and higher sensitivity in the visible waveband. As easy to use as a home camcorder, the lightweight camera simultaneously delivers 12-bit RS-422 digital output and ElA-170 analog video output for display on commercial TV monitors.

Industrial applications for the Visible-InGaAs MiniCamera include laser beam profiling, machine vision, imaging in low light conditions and hyperspectral imaging across multiple wavelengths. For defense applications, the dual-wavelength camera can image most of the currently deployed military lasers by the U. S. armed forces, including 650 nm, 730 nm, 850 nm, 1060 nm, 1315 nm and 1540 nm.

Easy to use, robust and affordable, this smart, new dual wavelength sensor is available for shipping now in individual or OEM quantities.
