Ultra-Precise Midwave Thermography Camera Offers Spectral Filtering and Real Time Non-Contact Temperature Analysis

Minneapolis, MN-August 1, 2005-Infrared Solutions, Inc. has announced the new VarioTHERM(TM) Camera Head, a universal midwave infrared camera designed for highly precise, realtime thermal analysis in scientific and industrial applications. The camera features spectral sensitivity of 1.8µm to 5µm and an integrated spectral filter wheel for wavelength-specific image capture. A rapid 50Hz frame rate allows the camera to visualize area temperature distributions in fast, non-contact processes that conventional IR cameras would fail to reveal.

"The VarioTHERM head is a versatile, portable, and highly-precise midwave system ideal for flame and gas analysis, metal surface inspection, film extrusion, and glass manufacturing applications," said Sean O'Driscoll, Vice President of Sales & Marketing of Infrared Solutions. "The new interface and connectivity features combines the advantages of a mobile camera system with those of a PC-based thermographic workstation."

VarioTHERM features a sterling-cooled (PtSi) high performance FPA-sensor, and a cooling layout optimized for long-term stability under continuous operation. The camera generates sharp 256 x 256 pixel resolution images in a broad temperature range from -25°C to 1,200°C. The VarioTHERM head also features integrated Firewire-PC interface for easy integration and remote camera management, plus an onboard CompactFlash memory slot.

An available range of high quality Jena optics, including microscopic, telephoto and wide angle lenses, offer the highest image quality and expanded applications. The camera is housed in a durable IP54-rated enclosure built to withstand the toughest inspection environments.
