New Mid-Size BOMAG Single-Drum Roller Delivers Improved Compaction Force, Gradeability and Tractive Effort

KEWANEE, Ill. - The new mid-size BOMAG BW145D-3 single-drum vibratory roller delivers improved compaction force, gradeability and tractive effort for greater productivity on
both granular and mixed soils. Its 56-inch wide drum makes it ideal for utility and highway construction work as well as for driveways, residential and commercial construction and parking
lots.

In high amplitude, the BW145D-3 delivers 22,500 pounds of centrifugal force - an increase of more than 40 percent from the model it replaces. Standard dual amplitude - .067 inches in high
and .033 inches in low - allows the BW145D-3 to efficiently compact materials with a variety of lift thicknesses for additional versatility. Vibration frequency is 2,040 vibrations per minute (vpm), compared with 1,980 vpm on the previous model.

A 587.4-pound increase in the drum's axle load results in a static linear load increase of 4.2 pounds per linear inch. This increase further enhances static compaction finish rolling.

The BW145D-3 features a Deutz air-cooled diesel engine with 71.7 horsepower, compared with 53.6 horsepower on the model it replaces. This increased power combined with smooth hydrostatic drive results in optimum tractive effort and gradeability up to 47 percent, an increase of 17 percent over its predecessor.

The unit's bolt-on oscillating/articulating center joint features +/-12-degrees of oscillation (an increase of 4 degrees) and a 35-degree steering angle, enabling full drum contact on irregular terrain and a tight 109.4-inch turning radius. Maximum travel speed of 6.2 mph improves job site efficiency.

Excellent all-round visibility, ergonomic control layout and a vibration-isolated operator's platform combine to enhance operator comfort and productivity. The operator's station includes single lever travel and vibration control as well as audio and/or visual alerts for engine oil pressure, engine
temperature, electrical charge, hydraulic oil filter status and parking brake. ROPS/FOPS with seatbelt and a lockable control panel are standard.

For increased job site and operator safety, the BW145D-3 features an emergency stop button as well as a Spring-Applied, Hydraulically-Released (SAHR) braking system that automatically activates when the engine is stopped or when the roller travel lever is returned to neutral detente.

The sloped, wide-opening hood design provides easy access to service and maintenance points. To save time, the exciter system on the BW145D-3 features an oil bath arrangement that eliminates the need for daily bearing lubrication. Maintenance involves checking the oil level on a 250 operating hour basis and changing the oil annually or every 1,000 hours of operation.
