Low Noise, Micropower LDO Offers Dual 100mA Outputs from 3mm x 3mm DFN

MILPITAS, CA - January 12, 2004 - Linear Technology announces the LT3023, a dual 100mA, low dropout, low noise micropower regulator. It operates from an input voltage range of 1.8V to 20V, delivering two 100mA outputs at voltages as low as 1.22V. Its wide 1.8V to 20V input voltage accommodates sources from single cell Li-Ion or multicell alkaline/NiMH, as well as higher voltage fixed rails. With a 0.01uF bypass capacitor, output noise drops to 20uVRMS over a 10Hz to 100kHz bandwidth. Designed for use in battery-powered systems, the low 20uA quiescent current per channel makes it ideal for maximizing run-time. Quiescent current in shutdown is less than 1uA per channel and two shutdown pins allow independent control. Dropout voltage is only 300mV (at 100mA), enabling very low dropout applications such as 3.6V input to a regulated 3.3V output.

The LT3023 regulator is stable with tiny 1uF output capacitors without the series resistance required by other regulators. Internal protection circuitry includes reverse battery protection, current limiting, thermal limiting and reverse current protection. The LT3023 is available with an adjustable output in either a thermally enhanced MSOP-10 package or a 3mm x 3mm DFN.

The LT3023 is available from stock with 1,000-piece pricing starting at $1.70 each for the DFN and $1.60 each for the MSOP.
