CRAIC Technologies New Vitrinite Reflectance Measurement System for the Energy Market
SAN DIMAS, CA - March 14, 2008 - CRAIC Technologies, Inc, a global leader in application-focused microanalysis solutions, today announced the launch of the new QDI CoalPro(TM) Vitrinite Reflectance Measurement System, a rugged microphotometer capable of testing vitrinite coal by international standard test methodologies rapidly and accurately.
"The QDI CoalPro(TM) Vitrinite Reflectance Measurement System was designed to help the organic petrologist to increase the accuracy and speed of their vitrinite reflectance measurements. The system is an important advance in the instrumentation used to grade the thermal maturity of coals. With its flexible design, the QDI CoalPro(TM) is capable of measuring vitrinite reflectance at 546 nm and can be automatically calibrated to a number of different reflectance standards commonly used for vitrinite reflectance measurements. The system also includes digital imaging capabilities and the entire measurement process may even be fully automated. The new QDI CoalPro(TM) software supports both manual and automated measurements and is designed to comply with multiple international vitrinite test methodologies, including ISO 7404-5 and ASTM D2798.
The system is the first commercially available microphotometer to include a thermoelectrically cooled detector option designed to increase long term stability. It can also be upgraded to enable full-spectral range reflectance, transmittance and fluorescence microspectroscopy in order to address future developments in this and other fields. All this with can be done with a single instrument.
