Metso Automation Offers JAMESBURY® WAFER-SPHERE® High-Performance Butterfly Valves for Fire Trucks and Pumper Trucks
NORTHBOROUGH, Mass.-Sept. 1, 2006-Metso Automation offers a high-performance butterfly valve ideal for use in fire trucks and pumper trucks. The JAMESBURY® WAFER-SPHERE® high-performance butterfly valve features reliable bi-directional shutoff and the JAMESBURY XTREME® seat for longer life, expanded performance boundaries and greater value. JAMESBURY WAFER-SPHERE butterfly valves for the Fire Apparatus market include provisions in the design to minimize the overall actuation package size and to maximize the flow capacity. Both features are critical to this market.
The JAMESBURY WAFER-SPHERE high-performance butterfly valve allows users to lower their cost of ownership without risking performance. This compact but tough breed of butterfly valve delivers longer cycle-life, tighter sealing and greater reliability than other butterfly valves.
Featuring an offset shaft and eccentric disc arrangement, the unique design of the JAMESBURY WAFER-SPHERE high-performance butterfly valve transmits a camming action to the disc and swings the disc completely away from the seat when opened, instead of jamming it against the seat as conventional butterfly valves do. The seat flexes rather than deforms, eliminating wear points around the disc at the top and bottom of the seat and the resulting beading, scuffing and ultimate tearing and leakage. The seat flexure design ensures consistent opening and closing torques even if the valve is not operated for extended periods of time.
Available either as compact manual or pneumatic, the JAMESBURY WAFER-SPHERE high-performance butterfly valve is manufactured to NFPA 1901 standards and offers 285 pounds per square inch (psi) working pressure, 500 psi test pressure, 1000 psi burst pressure and a vacuum rating of 30 mm/Hg.
