MEMS Switches come in DPDT and SP4T configurations.

Press Release Summary:

Switches rated from DC-7 GHz are offered in DPDT and SP4T configurations, both of which utilize High Force Disk Actuator (HFDA) technology. Promoting usage flexibility, DPDT is configured as 2 independent SPDTs and can handle differential signals or provide density improvements in multi-switch environments. With 4 integrated HFDA switch elements, each independently controlled, SP4T is suited for signal multiplexing or applications concerned with integration and insertion loss.

TeraVicta Announces Availability of New MEMS Switch Configurations

DPDT and SP4T products leverage industry leading MEMS switch technology.

AUSTIN, Texas, June 21 - TeraVicta Technologies, Inc., today announced the addition of two new products to its switch family; a Double Pole Double Throw (DPDT) and a Single Pole Four Throw (SP4T) configuration in the DC to 7 GHz switch product line. This announcement follows on the heels of the recent introduction of a DC to 26.5 GHz SPDT MEMS switch and marks the third new product introduction this quarter. The DPDT and SP4T reinforce TeraVicta's commitment to develop a broad family of high performance switches extending the options for customers to address a wide array of applications in the $1B small signal switch market.

"We are excited that TeraVicta is providing this DPDT product to the ATE community," stated Heidi Barnes, Senior Test Consultant for Verigy. "Size and density are very important for differential signaling in ATE applications. According to our test results, TeraVicta MEMS switches provide serious performance benefits, especially when we look forward to working with 10 and 20 Gbps applications."

"Demonstrating the differential performance of the TeraVicta DPDT switch for Verigy required the use of some advanced test and measurement tools," added Mike Resso, Signal Integrity Product Manager of Agilent Technologies, Component Test Division. "We used an 8-port 50 GHz Vector Network Analyzer with Physical Layer Test System software for signal integrity analysis. At 10 Gbps, the TT2214 switch exhibits a wide open eye-diagram with minimal jitter. This predicts excellent signal integrity performance in high speed semiconductor test applications."

Both new products utilize the TeraVicta patented High Force Disk Actuator (HFDA), a critical enabling technology used across all of the Company's products. The HFDA has been instrumental in establishing an industry leading level of quality and reliability in MEMS switches.

The newly released DPDT is configured as two independent SPDT's, giving engineers the maximum flexibility as to how they use the device in their applications. It can be used to handle differential signals, or for density improvements in multi-switch environments. The SP4T integrates four HFDA switch elements, each of which is independently controlled, so the switch is ideal for signal multiplexing, or for applications such as antenna switching where higher integration and low insertion loss are the most critical parameters.

"By leveraging the baseline process and design technology of our market proven, high volume switches, TeraVicta is capable of creating new products very quickly" stated Ray Burgess, President and CEO of Teravicta. "Our production process and unique HFDA switch design remain unchanged from product to product, enabling first pass design success and guaranteed product performance and reliability. The ability for us to create unique configurations of integrated switches is virtually unlimited, giving system designers great flexibility in defining new solutions. With the input of our customers, we anticipate expanding our portfolio to include custom and applications specific switch solutions in the near future."
