Melt Pressure Transmitters suit applications up to 1,000°F.

Press Release Summary:

Designed with sodium potassium as pressure transmission medium to satisfy RoHS requirements for environmental safety, K-Series Transmitters feature GTP coating material on sensing tip, which is resistant to abrasive and corrosive chemical agents as well as high temperatures. Units offer pressure ranges from 1,500-15,000 psi with accuracy of 0.25 or 0.50% FS. They are available with mV/V, mA, and Vdc outputs as well as ½-20 and M18 x 1.5 thread options.

Gefran's K-Series Melt Pressure Transmitters Designed for Applications up to 1000°F

Designed with NaK to satisfy ROHS requirements for environmental safety

Winchester, MA, June 2006 - - - Gefran, a leading manufacturer of sensors and control instrumentation for process automation and control, announces the release of a new family of melt pressure transmitters for high temperature melt sensing applications. For use up to 1000°F (538°C), the K-Series is suitable for high temperature applications such as medical tubing and other processes using high-temperature engineered resins. K-Series uses NaK (Sodium Potassium) as the pressure transmission medium - which satisfies new RoHs requirements for environmental safety. This transmitter debuted at the National Plastics Exposition in Chicago.

For maximum durability, the K-Series features Gefran's new "GTP" coating material applied to its sensing tip. This proprietary coating lowers the coefficient of friction and is extremely resistant to abrasive and corrosive chemical agents as well as high temperatures. Gefran's new GTP coating provides better protection during extrusion processing than any coating currently available.

The K-Series is available in the same standard configurations as Gefran's M and W melt pressure transducer and transmitter series popular for extrusion applications, and offers the following features:
o Pressure range options from 1,500 psi to 15,000 psi
o Standard mV/V, mA and Vdc output options
o Accuracy of 0.25% or 0.50% FS
o Standard ½-20 and M18x1.5 thread options
o Many rigid and flexible probe length options
o Available with or without thermocouple
o Autozero options for mA and Vdc output versions - Magnetic or External
o CANopen (DP404) version available

ABOUT GEFRAN
GEFRAN was founded in the 1970s. Today, the GEFRAN Group is a leading supplier in the field of automation and process control of plastics processing machinery for extrusion and injection molding. GEFRAN ISI Inc., located in Winchester, Massachusetts, is the group's North American headquarters and manufacturing base. Formerly Industrial Sensors Inc. (ISI), the company joined the GEFRAN Group in 1999 bringing more than 25 years of expertise in the development and manufacturing of melt pressure transducers and instrumentation for extrusion processing. GEFRAN SPA is located in Italy and is the GEFRAN Group's headquarters and primary manufacturing facility. Manufacturing operations in both France and Brazil, and GEFRAN companies in Germany, UK, Switzerland and The Netherlands support GEFRAN SPA.

Today, GEFRAN manufactures complete control systems as well as components such as temperature and pressure indication and control instrumentation; temperature, position, melt and industrial pressure sensors; solid-state relays; humidity sensors and load cells. In addition to plastics processing, GEFRAN's instruments and integrated systems are used in a wide range of industrial automation and process control applications. With its July 2003 acquisition of SIEI, a leading manufacturer of motion control products, the GEFRAN Group now employs more than 700 people and has yearly sales of about $130 million dollars worldwide.
