Fast Production Testing Of Insulation On High Capacitive Devices

Maynard, MA - QuadTech, Inc., a leading electronic test equipment manufacturer in the passive component and electrical safety testing marketplace, announces the availability of two new megohmmeters for insulation resistance measurements, the models 1868A and 1868D. Both units, containing similar features, are designed for high speed testing in automated system applications. The Model 1868A provides a high output current to 80 mA for fast charging of capacitive components and devices. The Model 1868D provides high test voltages up to 5000 VDC for testing those products with high voltage ratings.

The instruments back-lit display enable quick, easy setup, and display of test results. Measured results of insulation resistance or leakage current can be shown on the display as a function of time on a X-Y or bar graph. For high speed production testing of capacitive devices measure times of 40 msec are possible. Without increasing the test time an automatic contact check identifies any contact failure to the device under test. With five programmable limit sets the 1868's are ideal for bin sorting of components. The instruments can also be programmed to automatically perform up to 20 timed tests in sequence, in a charging or measure mode. Each sequence may last up to 60 minutes. Additionally, an optional PCMCIA Memory Card provides expanded memory for additional storage of test setups. The 1868A Model is equipped with a floating power supply that allows testing of devices at ground reference.
