Reliable Networking with Weidmuller's Industrial Ethernet Media Converters
RICHMOND, VA (January 11, 2006) - Many industrial Ethernet applications require long cable distances between network elements. They may include the need to expand a network beyond a single building, or connect with remote stations located miles from the primary installation. Long cable distances make the network vulnerable to interference from electromagnetic, electrostatic and radio frequencies that can cause disturbances in the electrical signals. Weidmuller's media converters convert electrical signals from RJ45 ports to multimode optical ports via SC- and ST-style connectors respectively. Both models support full or half duplex operation, set by two front-panel DIP switches. In addition, the media converters include LEDs for convenient front-panel diagnostics.
