Measurement Specialties' Temperature Sensors Support Mercy Ships

Founded in 1978 by Don and Deyon Stephens, Mercy Ships is an international charity that operates the largest non-governmental hospital ship in the world. They provide free health care and education to port cities in more than 70 developing nations. Presently, the focus is on West African countries.

Measurement Specialties supported the work of Mercy Ships by donating several 701 and 401AC temperature probes for patient monitoring applications. These were ideal contributions to the ship's medical instrumentation inventory as the sensors can be sterilized and reused.

Recently, the work of Mercy Ships was featured in a 12-minute television segment on CBS' 60 Minutes. This program focused on the professionals providing the care and the positive impact it had on people they served. As explained in their promotional material, "Mercy Ships volunteers are selfless servants who bring hope and healing every day to the poorest of the world’s poor. They change lives by delivering the highest quality care to individuals who otherwise would have little access to medical services. But they don't just change the lives of those they serve. They are changed, as well."
