Agilent Technologies Introduces Fixed, Mobile WiMAX Manufacturing Test for Consumer Premises Equipment

SANTA CLARA, Calif., May 1, 2007 -- Agilent Technologies Inc. (NYSE: A) today introduced a WiMAX Manufacturing Test System for WiMAX Consumer Premises Equipment (CPE) and PC card manufacturers seeking a calibration and tuning solution optimized for high-volume environments. The Agilent MXZ-1000 supports both fixed (802.16-2004) and mobile (802.16e-2005) "last mile" broadband wireless access systems using a point-to-point or point-to-multipoint architecture.

As the industry's leading WiMAX manufacturing test system offering Beceem's BCS120 chipset library, MXZ-1000 is optimized to directly control Beceem's BCS120 baseband and RF chipset and the WiMAX modem software, enabling the highest possible measurement throughput. Beceem is the leading supplier of chipsets for the recently ratified, IEEE 802.16e-2005 standard on which Mobile WiMAX is based. Beceem will certify Agilent's test systems for use by manufacturers that are developing mobile WiMAX products based on the BCS120 chipset. For more information on the agreement with Beceem Communications, see www.agilent.com/about/newsroom/presrel/2007/12feb-em07043.html.

"MXZ-1000 is not only ideal for WiMAX CPE manufacturers who use Beceem chipset, but also manufacturers who require an optimized solution for a high-volume environment," said Daniel Mak, wireless business general manager of Agilent's Measurement Systems Division. "We are working closely with several chipset leaders on the WiMAX collaborations to ensure that the MXZ-1000 offers the most complete chipset selections for our customers and continues to be the best-in-class WiMAX manufacturing test system."

Incorporating the Agilent MXA Signal Analyzer, MXG Signal Generator and an interface unit into one integrated system, the Agilent MXZ-1000 offers exceptional test speed and superior measurement performance and capability. It reduces overall cost of test with its advanced performance and optimizes investment with its flexible configuration options. Simple graphical user interfaces are designed to maximize ease-of-use for operators in the fast-paced, high-volume manufacturing environment. The high-performance, cost-effective and simple-to-use MXZ-1000 test system is an ideal calibration and tuning solution optimized for WiMAX manufacturers.
