Roamware Launches Mobileum(TM) Service

BARCELONA - Mobile World Congress, February 11 -- Managed Service Delivers Unique Content and Social Networking Platform for Roamers Visit Roamware at Mobile World Congress, Hall 1, Stand F38

Roamware, the leading provider of roaming and mobile media solutions, announced the launch of its new Mobileum(TM) service, a dynamic information and content portal that powers a social network for travellers and frequent mobile users. The Mobileum(TM) service will leverage user attributes including profile, location, and community, to deliver contextual and relevant information to the user, and allows mobile users to form transient groups based on their interests, activities, and events.

"The Mobileum(TM) service continues the tradition of innovation from Roamware," said Bobby Srinivasan, CEO of Roamware Inc. "Mobile operators can now offer high-value, relevant content and social networking capability to their most important and valuable customers -- roamers. And best of all, it is a managed service from Roamware - operators can deploy this service to their subscribers in a matter of days."

The typical service offered by a mobile operator today allows subscribers to communicate with people in their address books using SMS, MMS, and email. The Mobileum(TM) service enhances this experience by allowing users to form groups and communities, and facilitating communication and content exchange between and amongst members of these groups. This will drive additional usage, thereby increasing ARPU for mobile operators.

The Mobileum(TM) service also leverages its awareness of a user's presence to deliver unique functionality to subscribers. For example, it will alert a user if someone in his or her address book is also roaming at the same location. Users can also form groups of people who share common interests dynamically and enable group messaging, conference calling, and activity scheduling amongst themselves, using SMS notifications. Even when using a PC, the location information from the wireless service is used to provide presence information that is richer that than that available to most web applications.

"The Mobileum(TM) service offers many social features that make its distribution viral," said Sudhir Kadam, Vice President of Roamware's Social Networking Business Unit.. "Our MatchMe(TM) program matches people with others having similar interests. Our MeetMe(TM) program enables interactions; and the peer-to-peer content exchange allows users to exchange photos and ringtones with others. In addition, the service includes free Yellow Pages which will generate word-of-mouth publicity. Subscribers will invoke the service by entering ##123 on their handsets."

The Mobileum(TM) service will incorporate features designed to protect children from inappropriate content. And as an added source of responsibility, the service can be configured such that new users will be asked to register themselves with the operator or host, so that they can be accountable for their behavior. While Roamware expects that the Mobileum(TM) service's users will moderate themselves, the system will also include a a "click-to-report" feature available to users who want to report inappropriate content and behaviour.

The Mobileum(TM) managed service from Roamware Inc. is available for immediate deployment by operators.
