Malvern Launches Novel E-learning Course for Mastersizer 2000

Malvern Instruments has launched a new e-Learning course for users of its Mastersizer 2000 laser diffraction-based particle size analyzer, a system that is widely regarded as the benchmark in many applications from bulk powders to pharmaceuticals actives.

The new e-Learning course covers theoretical and practical aspects of laser diffraction analysis. It is ideal for those charged with method development and/or system maintenance, and who already have some familiarity with the technique.

Available through Malvern's on-line shop ( the course is delivered as nine 15-20 minute presentations, covering essential topics such as the principles of the technique, data interpretation, routine maintenance of the instrument and method development. Each section is presented in a straightforward, easy-to-understand way and concludes with a set of exam questions that test understanding and lead to certification.

Having developed laser diffraction particle size analyzers for more than 30 years Malvern Instruments has a detailed understanding of the common issues faced by users and the ways in which they can be addressed to optimize system operation. This course distils the extensive knowledge of Malvern's experts, presenting it in an accessible way, and helping instrument users get the most from their Mastersizer systems.

About Malvern Instruments

Malvern Instruments is a global company that develops, manufactures and markets advanced analytical systems used in characterizing a wide variety of materials, from bulk powders to the latest nanomaterials and delicate macromolecules. Innovative technologies and powerful software produce systems that deliver industrially relevant data enabling customers to make the connection between micro (eg particle size) and macro (bulk) material properties (rheology) and chemical composition (chemical imaging). Malvern laboratory, on-line and in-line solutions are proven in sectors from cement to pharmaceuticals and support the understanding, improvement and optimization of many industrial processes.

Headquartered in Malvern, UK, the company has subsidiary organizations in all major European markets, North America, China, Korea and Japan, key partnerships in India, a global distributor network and a number of applications laboratories around the world.
