Maintenance Technologies Exhibits Retrofit Package for Cincinnati Arrow VMCs with Control Techniques CNCs in Booth A-8218 at IMTS 2006

Chicago, IL, September, 6, 2006 - Maintenance Technologies demonstrates their MachineMate®-based retrofit CNC package for Cincinnati Arrow 500 and 750 vertical machining centers equipped with the obsolete Control Techniques CNC in Booth A-8218 as part of the MAG Industrial Automation Systems exhibit at IMTS 2006. Designed as an all-inclusive control replacement package, the new retrofit delivers improved processing speed and increased memory in a state-of-the-art PC-based package using Windows® format software.

"There are hundreds of perfectly good vertical machining centers that are being scrapped because the Control Techniques (CT) CNC simply isn't capable enough to meet today's productivity standards," said Robert Varney of Maintenance Technologies. "Until now, the cost of a replacement CNC was very difficult to justify for these machines, but that has all changed with this package.

"For approximately $14,000 a MachineMate based control retrofit features a 2 millisecond servo update rate, Ethernet and USB ports, 20 GB or more free memory, and a 15-inch touch screen color LCD display to a Cincinnati Arrow 500 or Arrow 750 and extends the machine's useful life for another decade or more. And, because this package is specifically designed for these machines, the whole process takes only two days, including training," he added.

The MachineMate CNC is packaged to replace the CT unit without any re-drilling or repositioning. Once installed, users can expect reduced downtime, and significantly shortened machining cycles due to the reliability and processing speed of the MachineMate CNC.

In one example, the reduction in block processing time permitted Hill-Rom Company, Inc. to reduce program cycle time on a medical device component from 7 hours and 14 minutes, to 2 hours and 58 minutes, which cut the component's cost from $2,000 to $500.

Maintenance Technologies also offers standard retrofit packages for Cincinnati ACRAMATIC 850SX controls, Giddings & Lewis 8000 controls, and custom retrofits for a variety of other CNCs.
