MAG Maintenance Technologies Introduces New Productivity Solutions Group

Hebron, KY- In the day-to-day world of machining parts and meeting production deadlines, long-term efforts to optimize machine tool performance and minimize operating costs end up being fragmented and inconsistent for many manufacturers. MAG Maintenance Technologies (Hebron, KY) has formed its "Productivity Solutions" group of products and services to solve this problem.

The company is positioned to be a single source for productivity enhancements, along with core contract maintenance services, to operators of any of over 50 machine tool brands and the manufacturing industry worldwide.

"MAG Maintenance Technologies is about much more than simple maintenance," explained Bill Horwarth, President of MAG Maintenance Technologies. "Our focus is on minimizing the total cost of ownership, and that includes everything from helping customers select the right cutting tools, to supplying advanced factory optimization software solutions and sensory technologies.

"We also have complete rebuilding, remanufacturing, and retrofitting capability to extend the life of virtually any of the machine tools we cover," Horwarth continued. "Maintenance Technologies delivers services and solutions that relieve managers from the burden of equipment maintenance, while at the same time improving the productivity and utilization of these vital capital assets."

MAG Maintenance Technologies is now the exclusive North American distributor for specialty tools for cutting titanium, composites, and aluminum, programmable spindle head, and workholding products designed to support their mission. For instance, the MAG 5-axis retrofit spindle head can expand the capabilities of virtually any 3-axis or 4-axis vertical machining center, converting it into a fully-programmable 5-axis machining center. All needed machine and CNC upgrades, including motors, drives and software can also be supplied by Maintenance Technologies.

Technicut tools, also offered exclusively by the Productivity Solutions group, are specifically engineered for high-speed, high-performance machining of aerospace alloys and composite materials. A faster material removal rate is just one of the benefits. Additional metalcutting tooling exclusively sold and applied by the group includes ERIX automatic back spotfacers, Giddings & Lewis facing and contouring heads, Davis boring bars and blocks, and a large variety of indexable cutting tools and tool holders for turning, milling and drilling.

Through a relationship with Omative Systems, Adaptive Control and Monitoring (ACM) technology has become another asset that Maintenance Technologies brings to metalcutting machine tools to reduce cycle times, and to maximize the life of cutting tools. Sensors monitor spindle load, supplying data used to adjust feedrates for optimal results.

Drilling and tapping operations, for either high-production way-type machines or for stand-alone use, are fulfilled by equipment from 60-year industry-veteran DRILLUNIT, now offered by Maintenance Technologies. DRILLUNIT produces hydraulic and mechanical quill units, way units, and tap units... as well as multiple spindle heads, machine bases, air-electric units and other machine components. Competitive warranties further enhance the DRILLUNIT value proposition.

The Productivity Solutions group also offers coolants, lubricants, forming fluids, process cleaners and corrosion inhibitors.

Michael J. Judge, Director of Productivity Solutions group, summarizes: "The bottom line is this: our products and services increase throughput efficiency, lower variable manufacturing costs and increase opportunities for our customers to win contacts."

Productivity Solutions is a key factor in establishing Maintenance Technologies as a single source for machine life-cycle support. It is coupled with factory-direct parts and service for all MAG IAS brands, as well as aftermarket support and maintenance services for equipment produced by other machine tool companies. Services are provided worldwide, delivered through global hubs.
