MAG Fadal 40-Taper Vertical Machining Center Provides Capacity for Large, Heavy Workpiece Machining at High Cutting Rates

Chatsworth, CA - The MAG Fadal VMC 6535-40T is a robust, economical vertical machining center with a work table size of 75" (1905 mm) X 35" (889 mm) that provides broad flexibility in terms of workpiece size and multiple-part setups. The machine delivers high material removal rates and reduced part cycle times while holding
+/- .0002" axis positioning accuracy. Heavy cast iron construction and flame hardened box ways, including four on the base casting, support heavy workpiece machining, providing the rigidity and vibration damping required for aggressive metal cutting applications. The machine is designed for aircraft/aerospace, automotive, general industry, contract machining, and other durable goods manufacturing applications.

Cutting feed rates up to 600 IPM, with rapid travel rates up to 900 IPM, can be achieved. The 6535-40T is configured with a 10,000 RPM 40-taper spindle; a 6,000 RPM 50-taper high-torque spindle drive system is also available from MAG Fadal (VMC 6535 HTX). A leading-edge AC Vector Drive system with a high torque 22.5 HP spindle motor delivers 220 ft/lbs. of peak torque and maintains consistent torque over the full range from 10-10,000 RPM, with closed loop feedback.

X/Y/Z travel is 65" X 35" X 31" (1,651 mm x 889 mm x 787 mm). Large 63 mm diameter ball screws, large motors and a conservative lead pitch give over 5,000 pounds of axis thrust per axis while maintaining high rapid traverse rates. The machine comes equipped with a 24-tool dual-arm tool changer.
