Dynamic, Powerful Unit Establishes Next Generation of Universal High Performance Machining
HOLLISTON, Mass., Oct. 15, 2002 -Mikron Bostomatic Corporation announces the availability of the newest development in its series of high performance machining centers. The Mikron UCP 1350 delivers high performance simultaneous four- or five-axis machining with a highly versatile milling head and an exceptionally fast and accurate heavy load rotary table. The dynamic machining capabilities of the UCP 1350 are the result of a proven design based on a "traveling column" principle to ensure large axis movements with unrestricted access.
The UCP 1350 offers spindle choices of 12,000, 15,000 or 24,000 rpm. The all-new construction of the milling head allows simultaneous swiveling of the spindle by 135 degrees. Additionally, the swivel axis can be indexed degree by degree to make precise use of the high torque ability of the spindle motor. The UCP 1350 can be switched from a vertical to a horizontal machining process in 1.7 seconds to accommodate a wide range of applications from production type prismatic parts to complex tool and die work, with five-sided or five-axis simultaneous machining achieved in one single set up.
The dynamic performance and precision required for multi-axis machining is achieved using linear motor technology for the rotary axis. The design and construction of the UCP 1350 features a highly accurate 1,100 mm diameter rotary/tilt table that can handle loads up to 1,500 kg with a rotational speed up to 40 rpm.
The UCP 1350 is supplied with a standard integral 46-position tool magazine. An optional 96-position tool magazine is available.
The complete machine enclosure and automatic door interlocks provide safety and protection for the operator. The large opening doors give free access for crane loading and the entire area is well illuminated.
The UCP 1350 is equipped with a powerful Heidenhain TNC 430 control system to enhance performance. The system offers a host of standard features, including 3-D graphics, advanced high-speed functions, 3-D cutter compensation, and a 2.0 Gigabyte hard drive.
