Cincinnati Machine Introduces All-New Fixed Table Vertical Machining Center 840-2500 That Delivers Versatility and Precision

CINCINNATI, OH (April 25, 2002) -The all-new Fixed Table Vertical (FTV) 840-2500 Machining Center from Cincinnati Machine offers versatility, speed and digital precision to heighten productivity for a wide range of users in a number of ways.

Designed by following extensive research, feedback, and data analysis from numerous machine tool users, the FTV 840-2500 provides 40 taper, multi-tasking machining precision with an impressive 40 m/min rapid traverse rate in all axes, a 6 m/second squared on X-axis and a 4 m/second squared acc/dec rate.

The FTV 840-2500 is one machine in a new family of 11 Cincinnati FTVs. The entire range of traveling column machines enable pendulum loading in cycle to reduce load/unload times and maximize spindle utilization. The FTV column is a compact, high strength structure for alignment integrity with the cross slide and spindle carrier castings providing a high strength to weight ratio and the stability to deliver up to 56 Hp (42 kW) of power.

The 840-2500's X-Y-Z machining envelope measures up to 2,540 x 815 x 800 mm, providing an additional 500 mm X-axis travel with a 2.4 m shorter machine length, which maximizes floor space utilization. The FTV 840-2500 allows operators to machine parts weighing up to 8,268 lbs. and up to 2,500 mm long within a compact footprint.

The high Y-Axis configuration provides minimum overhang for maximum rigidity and Y-Axis range. Positioning accuracies of +/-3 microns and repeatability of +/-1 micron can be achieved. A unique triangular design tool changer mechanism enables tool-to-tool change time in a mere 4 seconds.

The other three FTV 840 models, with X-Y-Z capacities ranging from 1200 x 815 x 800 mm to 3700 x 815 x 800 mm, feature an 8,000 rpm, 18.5 kW spindle as standard. An optional 10,000 rpm or 12,500 spindle is available.

All Cincinnati FTV machines feature the latest digital A2100Di CNC control from Siemens. The powerful, user-friendly PC-based control provides faster cycle times and smoother machine motion by integrating a Windows 2000 operating system with a single processor Pentium III foundation.

In addition to the FTV 840 models, the comprehensive selection of FTVs encompass two other versions and seven different models to meet the unique machining needs of small and large shops, from low-batch sub-contracting to high volume OEM operations.

The three models of the surprisingly affordable FTV 640's offer table loading up to 6,600 lbs., an X-Y-Z capacity of up to 2540 x 635 x 670 mm, and are equipped with an 8,000 rpm, 18.5 kW spindle and a 36 tool capacity.

The four FTV 850 models offer heavy duty 50 taper machining muscle combined with an 11,575 lbs. workload capacity and a standard 5,000 rpm, 42 kW spindle. An 8,000 rpm spindle is optional.
