Nomura Demonstrates Speed, Accuracy and Flexibility in Automatic Machining at IMTS 2004

Deerfield, IL---Two versions of Nomura's newly introduced NN-20YB and the popular NN-20UBVI model will highlight the Nomura exhibit at KGK Booth #8745.

Designed for work pieces up to 20 mm in diameter, the new NN-20YB offers a combination of power and speed unsurpassed in its size range. The main spindle is powered by a 5-horsepower motor that delivers speeds from 300 to 10,000 rpm; but the real difference is in the back spindle: the NN-20YB features a 3-horsepower back spindle - the most powerful in the industry - to ensure fast and precise cutting in even the most difficult materials.

A Complete Tool Package
The main tool post features six turning tools, seven large spindle tools operating at 2 horsepower, and four frontal drills. The back tool post accommodates two turning tools, two live spindles operating at 2 horsepower, and three frontal drills. As a result, customers have the option of multiple tooling for complex applications or redundancy for longer part runs.

Options Increase Flexibility
Options available include three eccentric drills, three cross drills, a hob unit and a polygon unit.

The high-powered spindle, coupled with a variety of live tooling and the extensive selection of options, offers manufacturers an unprecedented range of choices in machine configuration, as well as the ability to drastically reduce machining time.

The NN-20YB is equipped with a Meldas 65S control conveniently mounted on a pendant arm. The compact design offers easy access for set-up.

NN-20UBVI - Proven Performance in High Production
A popular member of the Nomura family of automatic lathes, the NN-20UBVI features a 5-horsepower main spindle with speeds ranging from 300 to 8,000 rpm and a tooling capacity of five turning tools, four drilling tools, and four live tools.

The back spindle is powered by a 1-horsepower motor, delivering 200 to 6,000 rpm. The back spindle can incorporate four drilling tools.

The NN-20UBVI represents an economical alternative for longer runs of traditional parts in common metals. It features Nomura's heavy-duty construction, user friendly design, and compact footprint. According to Ken Kinoshita, Regional Sales Manager for KGK International Corporation, "Manufacturers in the automatic machining field are looking for machines that deliver greater flexibility over a longer life cycle. Rapid changes in parts families, coupled with more complex designs, are far removed from traditional systems that produced millions of copies of the same part. As a result, Nomura's rugged construction, high power, greater versatility, and choices and options, has enabled us to serve a whole new generation of customers along with our traditional user base. The IMTS exhibit enables us to demonstrate to a wide audience that Nomura offers the superior price/value relationship."
