Machining Center is suitable for machining turbine blades.
Press Release Summary:
Model HU40-T Table on Table 5-axis machining center offers 20 in. part diameter (max) and 40-taper spindle rated to 12,000, 15,000, or 20,000 rpm or 30-taper up to 40,000 rpm. High-torque rotary drive provides acceleration from 0 to 30 rpm, and deceleration in less than 120 milliseconds. Heavy duty machine holds 0.00012 in. true position (ISO 230-2) through all linear axes and 0.001° on B and C rotary axes.
Original Press Release:
Mitsui Seiki to Demonstrate Ultra-Precise and Robust "Table on Table" 5-axis CNC Machining Center at IMTS 2002
(Franklin Lakes, NJ - June 2002) Mitsui Seiki USA's HU40-T Table on Table 5-axis machining center will be in action machining automotive and aerospace parts at IMTS 2002, in booth A-8727. This heavy duty machine holds 0.00012 in. true position (ISO 230-2) through all linear axes, and 0.001 degree on B and C rotary axes, which are the highest accuracies achievable on any machining center in the industry. The HU40-T is ideal for machining aerospace blisks, turbine blades and impellors, compressors of all kinds, including automotive and railroad compressors, fuel pump systems, gas pipeline systems, and power generation compressors. The machine is also suitable for machining gear boxes, molds and dies, and fuel system components - all in one setup.
According to President Scott Walker, "many of our customers show at least a 50 percent reduction in machining cycle time on their parts with this machine. This feat is directly attributable to the machine's performance characteristics and the ability to apply combinations of heavy, deep, and high chip load flank milling with exceptionally high speed point milling in tough alloys."
The HU40-T's coolant system was designed and built for the large amount of chips resulting from heavy duty cutting. Its capacity is 60% greater than most conventional machining centers, and it's also a high efficiency system that consumes less energy.
The HU40T is the smallest of four models in the company's table on table type machining center line, featuring a maximum 20 in. part diameter, a 40-taper spindle with up to 12,000, 15,000, 20,000 rpm, or a 30-taper for up to 40,000 rpm. A special high torque rotary drive system provides acceleration and deceleration rates that are seven times faster than conventional machining center drives, providing superior productivity, speed, and motion control. Acceleration from 0 to 30 rpm, and conversely, occurs in less than 120 milliseconds. The company offers an optional 2 or 4-station pallet changer for automatic load and unload features and for integration into an FMS.
Like all of Mitsui's rigid and precise horizontal machining centers, the HU40-T's geometric accuracy is near perfect. All castings and mounts (even the ballscrew pads) are hand scraped before installing the guideways. Ballscrews are measured with a dedicated gage to ensure accuracy and reduce wear and positional tolerance degradation. Mitsui Seiki also builds its own high efficiency, high speed spindles which provide up to 40% more stiffness in the taper. The company's patented tool clamping system uses one-quarter of the typical clamping force energy, substantially lengthening bearing life and the mechanical components of the spindle.
