Five-Sided Machining in One Clamping - Provides Consistently High Quality Workpieces

ST. LOUIS, MO - The TwinFlex principle uses two machining stations acting independently of each other in one machine, which allows for every conceivable machining configuration. If both units work in the same station, loading and unloading takes place in the other independent of cycle times. In this way, idle time to the carriage and tool changeover times are reduced.

With the new TWIN FLEX MD, the dynamic linear motors guarantee fast movement in all three directions and work precisely without any erratic movements. As a result of their simple mechanical construction, critical machine parts require less maintenance and have longer life cycles.

The TWIN FLEX MD is a four spindle, two station CNC machining center, which provides complete five-axis machining of a work piece in a single clamping position. Optimum orientation of the workpiece and tools, extremely fast tool changeovers and rapid traversing of the units, combine to produce short cycle times. In addition, the free falling chips provide easy chip discharge, which reduces thermal loading and creates the ideal environment for dry or near-dry machining.

This machine offers a work envelope capable of machining a 300 mm cube. In many cases it is only necessary to select a new CNC program for workpiece modifications and the manufacturing of part families and variations, without any modification of the machine.

The user -friendly design of the TWINFLEX MD provides optimum access for setting up and operating the machine. Idle times are minimized by automated loading and unloading, prime cycle time as well as very fast tool and workpiece changeovers. For your machining requirements this results in a high level of availability and productivity.

The swivel arm of the standard loading system is one of the special features of the TWIN FLEX MD package automation. This is enhanced with the part specific gripper.

The loading function and control of the loading process are integrated into the machine control system of the TWINFLEX MD. This enables easy operation and compatibility with the machine processes. The loading system can be expanded for the loading of two machines.

Parts change over is achieved via separate grippers for unfinished and finished parts (usually in less than 8 seconds). The gripper can be fitted with a single or multiple grip with a separation distance matching that of the clamping devices. This guarantees the adaptation to the various clamping variants.

In two spindle operation the TWINFLEX MD can be fitted with either a single or dual clamp settings per swivel bridge. Four spindle operation enables a two or four clamp settings per swivel bridge. In this configuration the TWINFLEX MD can also machine very high numbers of your workpiece parts.

The TWINFLEX MD features static and dynamic rigidity. The unique in process adjustment of active correction of X, Y and Z-axis during operation of the machine, produces very high accuracy and workpiece quality.
