Advanced Enclosure Houses Advanced Wire EDM Machine
A new series of machine enclosures fabricated from extruded aluminum is available from Modular Tooling Systems, Inc. in Troy, Michigan.
Next-generation Wire EDM machines, from Mitsubishi Electric, feature adaptive control technology that systematically optimizes machining conditions to easily handle a wide variety of shapes. Special enclosures must also provide an operating environment that optimizes the machines' operating efficiency. Modular Tooling Systems has stepped forward with a next-generation series of enclosures that are vibration proof, dust free, temperature and air distribution controlled, and feature access doors and removable wall sections for major maintenance operations.
Modular Tooling Systems will build assembled units or provide individual components for the customer to assemble. All aluminum extrusions are not alike. Modular uses their own dies with special features built in. Scribed centerlines travel the length of the extrusion. This not only makes assembly more efficient and accurate, it is priceless when the enclosures must be removed and reassembled during maintenance. Extrusions also have a concave surface that closes like a lock washer when tightened. A unique ball-bearing insert with a tapped hole slides along the channel for easy positioning for assembly. No special tools or hardware are required.
Midsection plexiglass windows can be installed to move vertically or horizontally. A/C units are added to meet air-makeup requirements. Special shelters are available and filter racks are positioned to be easily accessible for filter changing. Sintra(r) colored panels enhance the aesthetics of the enclosure and can also accommodate color coding. Lighting fixtures, electrical and pneumatic control systems are available.
Modular Tooling Systems provides CMM enclosures, air-conditioned clean rooms, noise abatement enclosures, clay modeling fixtures, workstations, machine guarding, conveyors, and special production machines and clamping units. Enclosures can be installed on site or individual components can be delivered for in house setup.
