Press Release Summary:

Developed for use in rapid machining of metalform tooling, RenShape® 1000F board measures 24 x 16 x 2 or 4 in. and may be bonded to produce machinable block using Araldite® 2014 epoxy adhesive. Polyurethane board exhibits 16,000 psi compressive strength, Shore 90D hardness, and 23x10-6 in./in./°F coefficient of thermal expansion. It is suited for bladder press, fluid cell, hydroform and hydraulic tooling used by automobile and aircraft OEMs.

Original Press Release:

Super-Tough Machinable Board Introduced for Metalform Tooling

East Lansing, Michigan, November 7, 2003 - A high-strength polyurethane board developed specifically for use in the rapid machining of metalform tooling was introduced today by the RenShape® Solutions Tooling Group of Huntsman Advanced Materials. Known as RenShape® 1000F board, the new product is particularly well suited for the bladder press, fluid cell, hydroform and hydraulic tooling used by automobile and aircraft OEMs as well as some U.S. Air Force facilities.

Durable RenShape 1000F is ideal for demanding applications with its combination of a 16,000 psi compressive strength, Shore 90D hardness, and low 23x10-6 in./in./°F coefficient of thermal expansion. Despite its extreme strength, the material has good machinability. Carbide cutters are recommended with typical roughing speeds and feeds of 1,600 RPM and 40 IPM; finishing is done at 10,000 RPM and 100 IPM.

RenShape 1000F boards measure 24-inches long x 16-inches wide x 2 and 4-inches thick. They are easy to bond to produce a machinable block using Araldite® 2014 epoxy adhesive.
