LVDT Position Sensors are CSA listed for hazardous locations.

Press Release Summary:

Constructed entirely of stainless steel with hermetically sealed sensor body and through-bore design, HLIR 750 Series provides contact-less position measurement for critical applications in gas turbines for fuel valve position feedback, vane pitch servo controls, and governor controls. Intrinsically safe units offer 4–20 mA output signal and are available in measuring ranges from ±2 to ±20 in. Maximum linearity error is ±0.25% of full range output.

Original Press Release:

New Intrinsically Safe LVDT Position Sensor CSA Listed for Use in Hazardous Locations

Suitable for operation in gas turbines, petrochemical process plants and paper mills

Pennsauken, NJ,  – TE Connectivity (TE), a world leader in connectivity and sensor solutions, today announced the new HLIR 750 series intrinsically safe, 4-20 mA LVDT position sensors that are CSA listed for use in hazardous locations and where an intrinsically safe sensor is required.   With stainless steel construction and a hermetically-sealed sensor body, these LVDT position sensors provide reliable contact-less position measurement for critical applications in gas turbines for fuel valve position feedback, vane pitch servo controls, governor controls, and generator shell expansion measurement.

Units are also suited for throttle position sensing on engine-driven compressors in natural gas pumping stations, height measurement for head boxes and slicers in paper mills, edge detectors and web tension controls in plastic film plants, and real-time position sensing for all types of valves in chemical process plants.

Available in measuring ranges from ±2 inches to ±20 inches, HLIR 750 series intrinsically safe 4-20 mA LVDT position sensors feature high resolution, excellent repeatability, and low hysteresis.  Maximum linearity error of these sensors is ±0.25% of full range output. Constructed entirely of stainless steel, position sensors feature a through-bore design that makes the core accessible from both ends for better mechanical support and core guidance and facilitates clean-out in dusty or dirty locations. Sensor lead wires exit through a radially-mounted 1/2-14 NPT male threaded conduit fitting for easy attachment to an explosion-proof junction box as well as rigid or flexible conduit.

AC-operated, the HLIR 750 series LVDT linear position sensors offer a 4-20mA output signal that allows users to run longer cables from a sensor to the control system with less worry of EMI or noise being induced on the signal. The analog signal can also be converted to digital output for use by today’s more complex process control systems.
