Low Manganese Wires help meet environmental regulations.

Press Release Summary:

In addition to low manganese levels, FabCO® Element 71C and 71M offer optimized out-of-position capabilities, enabling welding operators to create quality welds regardless of joint placement. Gas-shielded flux-cored wires produce low spatter levels and have fast-freezing, easy-to-remove slag. Available in diameters of 0.045, 0.052, and 1/16 in. on 33 lb fiber spools, Element 71C is formulated to operate with 100% CO2 shielding gas, while Element 71M operates with 75–90% argon and balance of CO2.

Hobart Adds Two New Wires to Element(TM) Family of Low Manganese Wires

TROY, Ohio. – Hobart announced the addition of two new gas-shielded flux-cored wires to its Element™ family of low-manganese wires. The FabCO® Element 71C and FabCO Element 71M wires join five existing flux-cored and metal-cored wires, all of which have been formulated to produce manganese emissions below those of other similarly classified filler metals available in the marketplace. The new wires help address the industry’s increasingly stringent environmental regulations and recommendations set forth by regulatory bodies such as the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and the American Conference of Governmental Industrial Hygienists (ACGIH).

In addition to low manganese levels, both the Element 71C and Element 71M wires offer enhanced out-of-position capabilities, making it easier for welding operators to create quality welds regardless of joint placement. The wires produce low spatter levels to minimize post-weld cleaning, and have a fast-freezing, easy-to-remove slag to reduce the risk of slag inclusions.

The Element 71C is formulated to operate with 100 percent CO2 shielding gas, while the Element 71M operates with 75 to 90 percent argon and a balance of CO2. Hobart offers both in industry standard diameters of 0.045, 0.052 and 1/16 inch on 33-pound fiber spools.

Welding applications in the shipbuilding, structural steel, heavy equipment manufacturing and general fabrication industries are all weld suited to use of these wires.
