Sipex Introduces First LDO for Automotive Applications
(Milpitas, CA - March 18, 2004) - Sipex Corporation (NASDAQ:SIPX), a leading provider of high performance, analog integrated circuits (ICs), today introduced the SPX2975, a Low Dropout (LDO) linear regulator targeted at automotive applications requiring 5V fixed output voltage. This high power LDO can deliver up to 400mA of continuous output current and is available in a thermally enhanced TO-263 surface mount package. High efficiency operation is achievable because of exceptionally low dropout, rated at 250mV for 300mA output current. The part also offers low noise output of 40uVRMS, ideal for use in sensitive instrumentation, radio circuits and powering highly sensitive amplifiers.
To minimize battery drain, the SPX2975 consumes a mere 60uA quiescent current. The broad operating voltage range of 5.5V to 42V is ideal for the harsh conditions present in an automobile. The part is specified to operate over an extended temperature range of -40C to 150C degrees.
