NKK Switches Announces Logic Level, PC Mounted Pushbuttons

Designs Offer Flexibility, More Configuration Options, Lighter Miniature Devices

Scottsdale, Ariz. (July 21, 2005) - NKK Switches, a leading designer and manufacturer of electromechanical switches, offers one of the most extensive lines of logic level, PC mounted pushbuttons in the industry. The devices provide maximum design and price flexibility to engineers faced with demanding applications.

NKK's pushbutton switches range in size from ultra-miniature to miniature with logic level ratings of 0.4VA maximum @ 28V AC/DCV. The terminals feature .100 X .100 pin spacing in all ultra-miniature and subminiature models and 0.185-inch spacing in the miniature option. The wide selection of pushbutton varieties and terminations allows for a nearly endless variety of configurations. They are available in process compatible options with terminations that include straight PC with and without brackets, right angle and vertical mount. Circuit configurations are offered from SPST through DPDT. NKK's BB series offers a maintained action circuit option.

The ultra-thin, ultra miniature GB2 series is only 7mm high, 7mm wide and merely 2.5mm thick. These switches are ideal for applications with extremely limited board space and suitable for mounting in blocks. The GB2 is a low cost and effective switch option with a UL flammability rating of 94V-0.

The ultra-miniature GB through-hole and the G3B surface mount pushbuttons are totally process sealed. They are constructed of a heat resistant resin allowing vapor phase and infrared reflow soldering on the surface mount devices. Their size allows for high density mounting and their incredibility light weight of 0.25g make these switches ideal for handheld equipment.

The AB subminiature series can be ordered with various plunger lengths, while the BB series features an anti-static superstructure of carbon-impregnated polyamide to prevent static discharge to the contacts. The AB and BB have totally sealed body construction to prevent contact contamination and allow automated soldering and cleaning.

The largest of the family is the M2B series of process compatible miniature pushbuttons. They feature a snap-acting contact mechanism and an o-ring surrounding the actuator at the top of the bushing interior to prevent liquids from reaching the switch mechanism.

NKK's family of logic level pushbuttons has optional accessories, which include caps in various diameters and colors.

A leading designer and producer of electromechanical switches, NKK Switches offers one of the industry's most extensive selections of illuminated, process sealed, miniature, specialty and surface mount switches.
