New Lightweight Lock Boxes are Completely Rustproof and Nonconductive

Lockout Just Got Easier with the Introduction of Two New Brady Products

MILWAUKEE - (September 13, 2004) - Group lockout of equipment is a necessary, but time-consuming, procedure. Brady speeds, simplifies and reduces the cost of group lockout with the introduction of two new injection-molded lock boxes. The Portable Plastic Lock Box goes wherever it's needed, while the Mini Wall Lock Box can be permanently located on the shop floor.

Both products are designed for use in tough industrial environments. They are durable, chemical-resistant and guaranteed not to corrode. The economical, lightweight boxes are also nonconductive, making them safer than metal lock boxes when used in close proximity to electrical equipment.

Group lockout is required when more than one employee is working on a piece of equipment. OSHA rules state that each worker must exercise "exclusive control," which means that control points and equipment cannot be operated until each employee removes his or her lock.

Brady Lock Boxes simplify group lockout because it is no longer necessary for each worker to place a lock on each control point. A team leader applies a single lock to each control point to lock out the equipment. Keys for the locks are placed in the lock box, and each worker attaches his or her personal lock to the box. As long as one lock remains on the box the equipment cannot be operated, allowing each worker to maintain exclusive control. Lock boxes make it easy to track which employees are working, simply by checking the attached locks. They also save money, because lock boxes typically require fewer locks than hasps, reducing equipment costs.

Both Brady boxes feature a patented lock rail that prevents the lid from being opened when one or more locks are attached. The Portable Lock Box accommodates as many as 16 locks, while the Wall Lock Box holds up to eight locks. Transparent polycarbonate windows offer a clear view inside each box to check on the contents. Hooks mounted on the back inside wall keep keys organized and visible. Both boxes can be used to store padlocks and other lockout devices when not in use as a lock box.
Brady Lock Boxes are just one element in a comprehensive plant lockout/tagout program. Call 1-888-272-3946 for information on Brady's safety, facility and equipment identification products, or visit www.bradyid.com.
