Load Cells measure weight and force.

Press Release Summary:

Low profile, single point load cells can be used with rigidly mounted platform or to measure tensile or compressive forces. Model S215 for limited space applications measures forces of 2, 4, and 12 lb. Mounting is from bottom to minimize total height of assembly. S220 also measures up to 12 lb while S230 measures forces up to 40 lb. All three have thin-film metal strain gauge circuits with long-term stability of better than 0.1% per year.

Family Of Low Profile Single Point Load Cells Offered By SMD

A new line of low profile, single point load cells designed specifically for scales, pediatric scales, and force measurement has been announced by Strain Measurement Devices, Inc. (SMD) headquartered in Meriden, Connecticut U.S.A., with manufacturing in England.

The Model S215 load cell is an ultra low profile single point sensor intended for limited space applications requiring accurate measurement of full scale forces of 2, 4, and 12 pounds-force. Mounting is from the bottom to minimize the total height of the assembly. The S220 load cell is a very low profile single point sensor also intended for applications requiring accurate measurement of forces up to 12 pounds-force. The S230 load cell is a low profile single point sensor intended for applications requiring accurate measurement of forces up to 40 pounds-force.

All three models can be used with a rigidly mounted platform or to measure tensile or compressive forces. A 10,000 ohm bridge offers extremely low power consumption for extended battery life in portable products. In addition all three feature thin-film metal strain gauge circuits enabling long-term stability of better than 0.1% per year.

These low profile load cells are ideal for use in scales, weighing bottles or bags in medical instrumentation, laboratory use, robotics or general industrial weighing applications. Options on various specifications and mounting configurations are available.

Established in 1979, SMD is devoted exclusively to the design and manufacture of custom and standard thin film strain gauged sensors for the medical, OEM transducer, instrumentation, and measurement markets. Supplying leading-edge sensor technology to transducer manufacturers by producing thin film sensing elements and sub-assemblies to integrate into finished products, the SMD engineering and development staff support product design, shortened development cycles, and provide production engineered solutions involving force and pressure sensors.

SMD's recently improved website, www.smdsensors.com offers specifying engineers and buyers a colorful, comprehensive, interactive site featuring a complete selection of stock and customized force and pressure sensors.
