Load Cell Option Provides 4 to 20 mA Output Signal
June 24, 2002, Depew, NY - The Force/Torque Division of PCB Piezotronics, Inc., announces an exciting new option that is available for an entire line of general purpose and fatigue rated load cells with capacities from 25 lb to 200,000 lb. The 4 to 20 mA output signal option adds signal-conditioning circuitry within the load cell to provide current mode, 2-wire, loop-powered operation from any unregulated, 8 to 36 VDC power supply. Additional signal conditioners are not required.
The option is available for canister, low profile, and rod style configurations to support a wide range of load, weighing, and force measurement requirements. The devices are well suited for process control, process automation, process evaluation, process feedback, and quality control applications. Advantages include ease of operation, lower system cost, improved signal-to-noise ratio, ability to transmit signals over long distances, and ability to interface directly with PLCs.
