Original Press Release:

Industry's Highest Gain, Lowest Noise-Figure SiGe BiCMOS LNA for GPS, Galileo, and GLONASS Applications

The MAX2659 is a high-gain, low-noise amplifier (LNA) for GPS, Galileo, and GLONASS applications.

It achieves a very high 20.5dB gain and an ultra-low noise figure of 0.8dB while maximizing the input-referred 1dB compression point and third-order intercept point at -12dBm and -2dBm, respectively.

Maxim's proprietary high-speed, high-performance SiGe BiCMOS process and proprietary design techniques enable this GPS LNA to achieve the industry's highest gain and lowest NF for this process.

The MAX2659 is ideal for low-cost consumer applications such as automotive navigation, asset tracking, cellular handsets, portable navigation devices (PNDs), digital cameras, laptops, and ultra-mobile personal computers (UMPCs).

SUNNYVALE, CA-October 24, 2007-Maxim Integrated Products (Pink Sheets: MXIM) introduces the MAX2659 high-gain, low-noise amplifier (LNA) for GPS, Galileo, and GLONASS applications. Designed using Maxim's advanced, low-power SiGe BiCMOS process, this device achieves a very high 20.5dB gain and an ultra-low noise figure of 0.8dB while maximizing the input-referred 1dB compression point and third-order intercept point at -12dBm and -2dBm, respectively. Consequently, having the industry's highest gain and lowest noise-figure among SiGe BiCMOS LNAs, the MAX2659 is ideal for a wide range of low-cost consumer applications, including automotive navigation, asset tracking, cellular handsets, portable navigation devices (PNDs), digital cameras, laptops, and ultra-mobile personal computers (UMPCs).

The MAX2659 operates from a +1.6V to +3.3V single supply and consumes only 4mA. To further maximize battery life, it reduces the supply current to less than 1µA in shutdown mode. Available in a tiny, 1.5mm x 1.0mm x 0.75mm, leadless, 6-pin DFN package, the MAX2659 is fully specified over the -40°C to +85°C temperature range. Prices start at $0.70 (1000-up, FOB USA).
