Kimberly-Clark Introduces Fathom® Liquid Cartridge Media

New Media Offers High Efficiency and Pleatability

ROSWELL, Ga. (September 19, 2003) - Following the 2002 launch of FATHOM® Liquid Bag Filtration Media, Kimberly-Clark Filtration Products introduces a new line of media for liquid cartridge filtration applications. FATHOM® Liquid Cartridge Media meets requirements of 21 CFR* for food filtration and is chemically compatible with most applications.

"This product introduction is evidence of our expanding commitment to the liquid filtration marketplace," says Ron Cox, Filtration Marketing, Kimberly-Clark. "As, with our liquid bag filtration media, FATHOM® Liquid Cartridge Media is engineered to provide filtration performance that keeps systems running cleaner, longer."

Based on Kimberly-Clark's patented bicomponent and meltblown technologies, FATHOM® Liquid Cartridge Media is available in polypropylene and polypropylene/polyethylene constructions which are chemically inert for most liquid filtration applications.

Thermal bonding provides a high surface area for filtration performance while preventing pore deformation. The media's continuous fibers work together with that thermal bonding to prevent fiber shedding. In addition, FATHOM® Liquid Cartridge Media does not contain any surfactants or chemical binders that could interfere with system chemistry; nor does it contain any silicone, which makes the media compatible with most paint applications.

FATHOM® Liquid Cartridge Media provides a range of nominal and higher efficiencies for cartridge manufacturers. The media is engineered for stiffness, to aid in pleating, and it can also be used for membrane support, disk filters and other liquid filter applications.
