Pogo Linux Announces First Linux Optimized Eight-Processor AMD Opteron(TM) Server

PITTSBURGH, Nov. 9 -- Pogo Linux announced today at the SC2004 conference, the PerformanceWare 5864, an eight processor AMD Opteron-based server. This system is the first commercially available Linux-optimized server to use eight AMD Opteron 800-series processors providing unmatched performance. The computing power of the PerformanceWare 5864 meets the ever growing demands of enterprise databases and high performance computing applications. The company will be showcasing the product at SC2004 this week in Pittsburgh, PA with customer shipments expected to begin in December 2004.

The PerformanceWare 5864 employs a revolutionary design utilizing the AMD64 Direct Connect architecture to its full potential. These systems will provide unparalleled bandwidth access for memory intensive applications, easy modularity through HTX(TM) Connectors, and up to 256 GigaBytes of DDR memory. This server satisfies thirsty databases and high performance applications by overcoming bottlenecks in memory bandwidth and processing power. Pogo Linux has also engineered the hardware configuration to be compatible with SUSE Enterprise Server 9 and Red Hat Enterprise 3. Backed by Pogo Linux's support expertise, the PerformanceWare 5864 is well suited to be deployed with high performance applications across any enterprise.

"The PerformanceWare 5864 really showcases the AMD Direct Connect Architecture by joining eight processors in one system without the limitations of front side bus speed," said Erik Logan, Pogo Linux chief technology officer. "This system is ideal for enterprises that need power to drive their database, application servers or any other processor intensive applications."

Pogo Linux will be demonstrating at SC2004 will be its ComputeColony turnkey cluster system, the StorageWare S548 -- a 5U 48 drive storage system, and the StorageWare DA 360 -- a direct attached system that provides scalability and exceptional reliability. These products can be seen at the Pogo Linux booth #2330.

The company will also be showing its StorageWare S316 -- a storage system that received an "Excellent" rating from InfoWorld Magazine at the AMCC booth #2323 and this year's Linux Journal Magazine's "Ultimate Linux Box" at the Argonne National Labs booth #339.
