Servo Magnetics Inc. - Canoga Park, CA; A new compact linear voice coil actuator from Servo Magnetics Inc. is well suited for applications that require a linear force with high acceleration, or high frequency actuation. The device allows the customer to apply force directly in the linear direction without the cost of a mechanical conversion device such as a ball screw or gearbox. Often this reduction of parts contributes to improved reliability and life of a system. The actuator, which measures 1.25" diameter by 1.375" long, features a low-mass inner-moving coil. This, along with an oil impregnated sintered bronze bearing contributes to quick mechanical response times. This linear motor can produce peak forces greater than 3.5 LBS with approximately 45 watts of power. Custom mountings, and winding configurations are available upon request.
