Light Pipes Eliminate Through-Hole LEDs
A new line of light pipes that route light from surface-mount LEDs to a front panel and eliminate the need for mixed manufacturing technologies is being introduced by Gilway Technical Lamp of Woburn, Massachusetts.
Gilway Light Pipes snap-fit directly onto surface-mount LEDs and transmit light to another viewing area such as a front panel display. Eliminating the need for using through-hole LEDs on PC boards that are otherwise manufactured using surface-mount technology, these plastic light pipes come in six standard sizes and styles to accommodate single or multiple LEDs.
Precision molded from polycarbonate, Gilway Light Pipes conform to UL94V-0 flammability requirements and offer ESD protection by isolating the circuit from the front panel. Providing a wide viewing angle, these right angle light pipes come in round and rectangular face versions and are ideal for applications that require an array of LED indicators.
