New Cost Effective "Finger-Guarding" Solution from STI

FREMONT, CA - Scientific Technologies, Inc. introduces the 14mm resolution version of its MicroSafe MC4700 Series safety light curtain. This new resolution compliments the existing range of detection options (12mm, 20mm and 30mm) for maximum application flexibility. The MC4700-14 is available in protected heights from 150mm (6 in.) to 1800mm (71 in.) and offers a sensing range to 5 meters (16.5 ft.). MC4700 Series safety light curtains are available in standard (MC4700), segmented (MCF4700) or jointed (MCJ4700) versions. Options include low Electro-static discharge models and a DeviceNet interface.

Tight resolution combined with response time as fast as 6.5 msec allows the MC4700-14 to be mounted closer to the pinch points of hazardous equipment. Its compact size permits installation in small areas where other light curtains were previously too large, while providing a built-in appearance. It is ideal for safeguarding small automatic assembly and material handling equipment.

MC4700 Light Curtains are third party certified as Type 4 devices to the rigorous requirements of IE 61496-1, -2, the international standard on active opto-electric protective devices. Features include MPCE monitoring, exact channel select, and floating blanking. Additional features include: two-digit diagnostic display; two solid-state safety outputs; start/restart interlock mode; auxiliary outputs (NPN and PNP); and remote reset. For easy alignment, the MicroSafe features STI's patented Individual Beam Indicator lights.
