Extreme Unveils New REG-L1 License Plate Capture Camera

Powerful New Camera Unmatched for Clarity under Seemingly Impossible Conditions

Extreme CCTV International Inc., a division of Extreme CCTV Inc. (TSX:EXC), the global leader in active-infrared night vision surveillance equipment, announces the release of a new line of advanced performance license plate capture cameras, the REG-L1.

REG-L1 - featuring DHC-Imaging(TM) - delivers advanced performance license plate capture for technical surveillance and represents the third generation of license plate capture solutions from Extreme CCTV. Based on award-winning technology currently in use in large-scale projects in London, Stockholm and the US, REG-L1 incorporates innovations in active-infrared, optics and Extreme's Ambient Rejection technology to deliver high-contrast license plate images. The DHC-Imaging engine also results in clear, high-contrast images of new Digital License Plates (DLP), widely regarded to be the future standard format of license plates.

REG-L1 captures license plates from vehicles moving at speeds up to 160 kilometers per hour (~100 miles per hour), allowing full operation for highway and other high-speed applications. Extreme's Metaphase-LEDs and specialized lenses provide 3 to 25 meters (12 to 75 feet) of precision engineered performance for the most comprehensive distance coverage available in plate capture.

The demand for effective, reliable license plate capture grows each year as more and more end users in security, intelligent transport systems (ITS) and law enforcement realize the importance of the benefits. Law enforcement authorities have used license plate data as key evidence in several high-profile convictions while transportation authorities use license plate data for traffic management in ITS applications. Security end users store, match and reference license plate data on digital video recorders and digital video management systems for proactive security and post-event analysis.

The technology incorporated into REG-L1 makes it the most effective, most versatile license plate capture cameras available in the market today. REG-L1 cameras operate under any ambient lighting condition, ranging from total darkness to direct glare from sunlight and high-beam headlights. Additionally, a new power management module allows high-efficiency 12 VDC / 24 VAC operation, making long-distance, low-voltage license plate capture available for the first time.

"License plates have become an invaluable source of data for important applications across the globe," says Jack Gin, President and CEO of Extreme CCTV. "REG-L1 was engineered for absolute performance to get the plate under seemingly impossible conditions."

Extreme CCTV designs, manufactures and markets extreme application, all-environment, high-performance CCTV surveillance camera systems and infrared illuminators for technical surveillance throughout the world.
