Level Sensor is suited for small tubes and hoses.

Press Release Summary:

Featuring clip-on mounting design, TLS 100 capacitive level sensor detects presence or absence of liquids at chosen level within plastic tubes, rubber hoses, and glass or plastic pipes with diameter of 3/8-7/16 in. Sensitivity is adjustable for media of different dielectrics, and aluminum mounting clips serve as sensing electrodes. Sensor is suited for media having temperatures ranging from 32-194°F, has plastic housing rated IP65, and measures 2.3 x 1.6 x 0.8 in.

E-T-A Announces First Snap-On Level Sensor for Small Tubes and Hoses

Chicago - October 5, 2004 -E-T-A Circuit Protection and Control, a leading manufacturer of circuit protection and control products, announced the TLS 100, the first capacitive level sensor designed specially for tubes and hoses. Its unique clip-on mounting design reduces installation time from minutes to seconds and permits a wider adjustment band for sensitivity.

E-T-A's new non-contact level sensor detects the presence or absence of liquids at a chosen level within plastic tubes, rubber hoses, and small glass or plastic pipes. The sensor is simply snapped onto the tube at the level you wish to monitor.

Applications include the control of liquids used in pharmaceutical manufacturing, food processing, chemical mixing, and detergent dispensing. It may also be used to protect pumps from running dry, by signaling that the liquid level has fallen below a pre-set value. Unlike a float switch in a reservoir, the TLS 100 has no moving parts and is not prone to wear.

The TLS 100 is designed to measure liquids having a high dielectric, such as water-based liquids. The sensitivity is adjustable for media of different dielectrics. Unlike ordinary capacitive sensors, the aluminum mounting clips serve as the sensing electrodes, allowing measurement to occur across a wide area, increasing the adjustable sensitivity range.

Upon sensing level reached or level lost, the level sensor provides a transistor alarm output or switched control output up to 1A. It also provides visual indication via an LED. In addition, the solid-state circuit provides protection from short circuits and overloads.

The standard TLS 100 level sensor fits tubes and hoses having a diameter of 3/8 to 7/16 inches (9.5 to 11.11mm). Other sizes are available upon request. If desired, included mounting lugs may be used to fix the sensor in place, to ensure a tight grip on the tube.

The TLS 100 level sensor is suited for media having temperatures ranging from 32 to 194 degrees F (0 to 90 degrees C), has a plastic housing rated IP65, and measures only 2.3 x 1.6 x 0.8in (59 x 40 x 20mm).

The TLS 100 level sensor may be powered by any standard 24 VDC power supply or by the E-T-A model NG 03 power supply. The sensor accepts DC power inputs ranging from 9 to 36V. It operates as either NPN or PNP transistor output up to 1A. Low side switching enables the device to switch voltages other than the supply voltage.

Price and Availability

The TLS 100 is available 6 to 8 weeks ARO at prices starting around $100.00 in volume quantities. For information about the different models in the TLS 100 family, visit the E-T-A web site at www.e-t-a.com, or call 800-462-9979.
