Lean Learning Center Single Point Lessons Product Launched

"Point of work" learning tool to assist lean specialists with JIT knowledge-sharing

Novi, Mich., Nov. 19, 2007 - The Lean Learning Center, a leading provider of lean curriculum and consulting to a variety of industries, has expanded its line of branded product offerings to include the new Single Point Lessons, a group of 65 single page structured lessons for leaders of lean to use as a real-time, informal learning tool that can be implemented in an as-needed, just-in-time basis to supplement a formal training program. The lessons are organized by sections on Lean Principles and Rules, Process Tools (Kanban, 5S, etc.), Concepts (how you think about the things that affect the tools), and Change Management and Improvement Tools (process and cultural change).

"We know from our plant floor experience that there is not always time to pull people off the floor for scheduled, formal training sessions, and yet there is so much daily opportunity to teach lean concepts at the point of activity," says Jamie Flinchbaugh, Lean Learning Center partner. "Single Point Lessons allow any lean coach to educate others at a specific time with the particular lean lesson that applies to that circumstance. They enable lean to be taught day-in and day-out without a scheduled structure." However, Flinchbaugh emphasized this resource works best as a supplement to - not a replacement for - ongoing formal lean education.

The Single Point Lessons are designed to be used in any order. Each of the four categories is color-coded and the sheets are created in four-color, although they can be printed as black and white. They can be viewed directly for one-on-one training or projected on a screen for larger learning sessions.

The Lean Learning Center Single Point Lessons are supplied on a USB and purchased by paying a licensing fee. They are available in Adobe Acrobat 2008 PDF format for $6,500 per company-wide license or in editable, customizable Microsoft Word 2007 files at $13,500. This latter option allows a company to put in its own logo and particular corporate verbage.
