Original Press Release:
R20 LED Lamps Reflect Advancement in Durable, Efficient and Economical Spot and Ornamental Lighting
TORRANCE, CA -- February 28, 2003 - LEDtronics® announces its latest generation of R20 LED Reflector Lamps. These direct incandescent replacement bulbs combine advanced Light Emitting Diode (LED) technologies, standard 25mm Edison bases and light-optimizing designs to produce vivid light. R20 LED lamps are available in five light emitting angles (15°, 25°, 30°, 33° and 40°) and in voltages from 12V to 240V AC or DC. Depending on the model, they have between 50 - 60 LEDs, and power draws of just 1.7Watts - 2.5Watts. Colors available are Green (570nm, 525nm and 505nm), White (4500K and 8,000K), Blue (470nm), Yellow (595nm), Red (660nm and 630nm), and Amber (612nm). Infrared lamps are offered in wavelengths of 850nm, 880nm and 940nm.
An 11-year LED operating life and 10 sunlight-visible colors as well as infrared from which to select, make solid-state R20 LED lamps practical and economical way for architects, retail store display creators, entertainment designers and other lighting professionals to integrate ornamental illumination into maintenance-intensive applications. Additionally, an LED cluster lamp continues to provide light even if one or more emitters fail unlike when the filament breaks in an incandescent bulb. R20 LED lamps are designed to perform well in systems subjected to voltage dips or surges. Integrated current-limited resistors ensure that no circuit modifications are required.
Colored lenses or filters are not needed since LEDs emit colored light that is determined by the composition of the semiconductor material comprising the diode. Intensity and color remain stable over lamp's lifetime. LED technology is an energy-efficient light source; saving 80% - 90% of energy costs compared to a 25- or 40-Watt incandescent lamp. Because LED use very little energy and are virtually maintenance free the cost savings are substantial.
Solid-state design renders LEDs impervious to electrical and mechanical shock, vibration, frequent switching and environmental extremes. With an average life span of 100,000-plus hours (11 years), LEDs operate reliably year after year and are appropriate for many applications. LED is an ideal solution for decorative and night task lighting applications including large message panels, billboards, scoreboards, time and temperature signs, arcade machines, casino accent light, theme and amusement parks, stage lighting, carnivals, theaters and ornamental lighting. R20 LED lamps can be used as individual pixels in a large dot matrix screen, full color screens, moving signs and displays.
Prices for R20 LED Lamps range from $94.50 - $145.00 each depending on LED technology and color. Large quantity discounts are available. Availability is stock to 4 - 6 weeks for special requirements. R20 LEDs carry a 3-year limited warranty.
