LED Lamps suit signage applications.

Press Release Summary:

PolyLED(TM) Lamps are solid-state light sources that deliver light collimation of leaded discrete LEDs in integrated package with built-in metallized reflectors and molded protruding lenses. Models have 3-24 LED chips per unit with light outputs from 300-5,000 mCD. Devices emulate chips-on board dot matrix displays, and are suited for use as pixels or light source, in both indoor and outdoor message signs, status panel indicators, and warning lights.

Sunbrite Introduces Solid-State PolyLED Lamps, for High-Intensity, High Reliability Signage and Lighting Applications

PALATINE, IL--The Sunbrite Group of Lumex, Inc. is announcing new PolyLED(TM) lamps, solid-state light sources that provide the high reliability associated with LED, with the high intensity typical of incandescent or fluorescent lamps. Sunbrite's PolyLEDs deliver the light collimation of leaded discrete LEDs, but in a patented, integrated package with built-in metalized reflectors and molded protruding lenses. They also offer an operational life much longer than any conventional incandescent or fluorescent light source. These devices emulate chips-on board dot matrix displays, and are ideal for use as pixels or light source, in both indoor and outdoor message signs, status panel indicators, warning lights or indicators, and as alarm lights.

A wide range of PolyLED units is available, with models having from 3 to 24 LED chips per unit. They are offered in many sizes and shapes, including round (11mm, 17mm, 24mm, and 32mm sizes (0.43-inch, 0.67-inch, 0.94-inch, and 1.28-inch, respectively) and square (17mm, 0.67-inch).

Color choices include Super Green, Ultra Pure Green, Super Yellow, Super Red, Ultra Red, Ultra Super Blue, plus bi-color (Super Red/Super Green), and RGB (Ultra Red/Ultra Pure Green, and Ultra Super Blue). All LED chips feature the latest chemistries, and offer light output levels ranging from 300mCD (Super Green, at If = 20mA) to 5,000mCD (Ultra Pure Green, at If = 20mA).

Because these units are intended for signage applications, they have been designed for ease of mounting. The integrated packages, equipped with tinned leads, are easy to assemble into multi-unit aggregates. This eliminate the need to create LED clusters on circuit boards, thereby providing a lower installed cost that LED clusters. Sunbrite PolyLEDs also deliver higher reliability than assembled LED clusters, due to their unitized, encapsulated package. And, they provide a wider area of light emission than clustered radial-lead LEDs.

Production quantities of Sunbrite's new PolyLED Lamps are available in 6 weeks. Pricing varies depending on size of unit, number and color of LEDs, and quantity ordered. For the 11mm round Super Red unit, pricing is approximately $1.00 each, in quantities of 1,000.
