CAMBRIDGE, Mass - The Value Engineering Alliance, a leading provider of machine vision solutions, announces the addition of an LCD inspection product, VIDIASYS(TM), to its suite of application-specific solutions.

PC-based and featuring software specifically developed to support semi-automated inspection of liquid crystal displays found in camcorders, digital cameras, portable DVD players, personal GPS navigation systems, handheld video games, miniature monitors/TVs, mobile phones, MP3 players, PDAs, video cameras and similar devices, VIDIASYS' modular software architecture enables various functional blocks to be combined and exercised as needed to address a variety of LCD related inspection tasks.

Standard systems detect pixel and line defects as well as problems with luminance or uniformity. The general-purpose core product gets tailored to meet each manufacturer's specific requirements. Computer-automated examination of board-to-board connectors, plastic protective foils, polarizers and housings are examples of additional inspection procedures that have been incorporated per customer request.

VIDIASYS consists of an Intel Pentium 4 processor-powered PC running Windows XP, configured with cards that support computer-controlled illumination, Input/Output operations, and networking, outfitted with an appropriate camera/lens/lighting combination and interfaced to an application-dependent Device Under Test fixture.

Set up and configured software-wise using a simple Graphical User Interface, VIDIASYS offers multi-level password protection, includes data management functions and features diagnostic tools.
