Leica LTD800 Laser Trackers Now Shipping Worldwide

Metrology Division of Leica Geosystems Sets New Standards in Portable Coordinate Measurement

Norcross, GA - August 5, 2001 - The Metrology Division of Leica Geosystems (formerly known as Industrial Measurement Systems or the IMS division) announced today it is now shipping the new LTD800 laser trackers worldwide. The LTD800 is the latest addition to the Leica Laser Tracker family of metrology products designed for portable coordinate measurement. The laser tracker offers the fastest measurement cycle in the industry for high point density (3000 points/second), and the longest measurement distance for large volume work (0 - 140 ft.). The Leica Laser Tracker is more than just a tracker; it is a portable CMM
with tracking facilities. In the coming months, Leica will release a series of revolutionary features and accessories that will evolve the LTD800 into a unique All-In-One Solution. Leica's metrology technology is used to set up, measure and
inspect assembly tooling details and part mating procedures found in many manufacturing operations including aerospace, automotive and shipbuilding. A demonstration video showing probing and scanning applications is available upon request by calling (770) 447-6361, ext. 334, or email:leslie.stephens@leicaus.com.

The LTD800 offers an open client/server interface for customized data processing, and integrates easily into company's manufacturing processes to increase speed, precision and flexibility exponentially. The programmable interface can be used to automate the inspection process from start to finish.
Later this year, the company will offer a built-in Internet browser control to guide the LTD800 laser tracker remotely and 100% digitally. The Metrology Division of Leica Geosystems leads the industry with more than 900 tracker systems installed worldwide in the toughest, most unforgiving industrial environments.
