Original Press Release:

Shorter Processing Times, Greater Flexibility

FARMINGTON, Conn., November 12, 2008 - Faster processing times, shorter positioning times, more flexibility: TRUMPF has released the next generation of the TruLaser Cell Series 7000. Job shops as well as operations with large run, high production requirements benefit from the radically overhauled laser system mechanics and software for processing 2D and 3D material.

The TruLaser Cell Series 7000 now features smoother runs, higher operating speeds, and faster acceleration of the system. Processing times and therefore, costs are significantly reduced. Downtime is minimized by a piercing strategy optimized for thin sheet metal processing combined with faster positioning speeds.

Downtime is further decreased by the integrated new graphical editor, the TopsViewer. This allows the user to quickly adapt the processing program to reduce the positioning times of new parts. Additionally, LensLine lens monitoring sensors prevent a dirty focusing lens from being destroyed which in turn protects the optical path.

A smaller die diameter, which reduces the flow rate and process gas consumption, results in production cost savings. For applications in which quality is secondary to the cost per part, compressed air may be used.

Production costs per part can also be reduced by employing standard laser technology tables provided with the TruLaser Cell Series 7000. The tables facilitate welding up to 7 kilowatts as well as high speed cutting with a laser output of up to 6 kilowatts resulting in cutting speeds up to 1,575 inches per minute.

The new generation TruLaser Cell Series 7000 also offers greater flexibility. Two new axis modules for small and medium-sized rotation of symmetrical components process a broader range of parts. A flexible partition divides the work area for loading and unloading large parts simultaneously.

With the introduction of the "WeldLine" application this spring, laser welding is further simplified. The base package, WeldLine Basic, provides easy to access tables with all of the required laser parameters. The WeldLine Comfort package controls up to four laser and gas mixtures allowing the proportional valve to be easily switched from one welding job to the next. WeldLine Professional combines technical knowledge with the WeldLine Basic and WeldLine Comfort applications to provide support for customers with less extensive laser welding experience.

With the TruLaser Cell Series 7000, TRUMPF sets new standards in 3D laser processing. From aluminum to ultra high strength steel, in 2D or 3D, the TruLaser Cell Series 7000 can weld, cut and finish surfaces efficiently.

TRUMPF is one of the world's largest producers of fabricating machinery and a world market leader in lasers used for industrial production technology. Additional company information is available at: www.us.trumpf.com
