New Laser Simplifies Machine Tool Calibration

ROCKVILLE, MARYLAND - API announced the official launch of the XD Series Laser Measurement System today. The system has been designed from the ground up to be a modularly expandable system that can grow with the needs of a customer. The instrument is available in 1, 3, 5, and 6 Degree of Freedom configurations. In addition, the new system includes an industry first - integrated controller and wireless communication.

The XD Series Laser offers many industry firsts:

o Integrated Controller - resulting in unparalleled portability and versatility.
o Ethernet communications to take advantage of today's high speed data technology and to be ready for tomorrow changes.
o Wireless data transmission option to Computer.
o Modular Weather Station

The new system began shipping in August and offers a scaleable system ranging from a single dimension linear Laser System to the 6D Laser Measurement System. "With this modular product, we can now offer our customers the ability to measure one, three, five, and six degrees of freedom; all simultaneously." said Product Manager Richard Yang. "This system is unparalleled in efficiency, portability, and capability" mentioned Yang.

Still maintaining the previous generation's ability to measure up to six degrees of freedom in a single setup, the new XD series laser offers unparalleled portability and efficiency for machine tool and coordinate measurement machine calibration.

Included with all systems is API's Winner software. The software too is modular and is designed around precision functionality, compensation ability and ease of use. Designing it in modular fashion along side of the hardware ensures that customers can upgrade to new hardware versions and not have the learning curve that would normally be associated with a typical hardware change.

The new series maintains API's competence in measurement accuracy while giving customers an even more portable and upgradeable solution. This new system will be on display in API's booth number D-4447 at IMTS.
